Pantone colours 2018.

Each season the team at the Pantone Color Institute creates the PANTONE Fashion Color Trend Report; a color overview highlighting the top colors fashion designers showing at NY Fashion Week will be featuring in their collections for the upcoming season.

The 2018 international fashion weeks just begun and Pantone has just released its Fashion Color Trend from the hottest seasons. With color on the catwalk a key indicator of the color stories we can expect to see showing up across all areas of design, the PANTONE Fashion Color Trend Report is your easily accessible guide to the season’s most important color trends.

The color story is wildly divergent and we see a kaleidoscopic bounty of uplifting shades and feel-good tones. There is a feeling of optimism and confidence driving a new vitality into fashion trends. That doesn’t mean that we don’t continue to look for more neutral or classic shades as while simple, these core basics are seasonal essentials, working well on their own as well as providing the background for the color complexity.

Let’s go to the colors?

Be aware,  yellow is the hottest color of the season. It is not an easy colour to use, but in nice proportions, you can be sure you wont be ignored.  Pantone Meadowlark 13-0646 is a not a dark yellow, its bright and glimpsy.  It perfectly matches with grey, brown and wood materials.  Get the inspiration.

Cherry Tomato 17-1563 is the new red from Pantone.  It is very wide open colour, almost orange, and can be used in full walls, pictures, carpets.   For the ones that does not dare, used in flowers, in accessories, in details.

Remember that Ralph Lauren pale blue look used by Melania Trump on the possession of her husband, Donald Trump, as president of the United States?   This is the inspiration for the number 4132 Little Boy Blue to join the Pantone list.

Just like the name says, the Chili Oil number 18-1440, the color reminds you of that Mexican seasoning,  and that’s what the tone will do it to the new look: “add a little more temper to the combinations”.

Blooming Dhalia is another colour that we are going to see a lot in the next months.  Its a soft rose a little bit turned into orange, with matches nicely with copper, neutral colours, green and blue.

Pink Lavender 14-3207 is a calm and soft tone, that can be easily used with other tones of pink, beiges, brown, blues…

Hello Greenery! It will reappear for one more season.  Arcadia 16-5533 is the colour.   With much of the population living in large cities, the subconscious interest in small spaces with many green areas is growing.  And how about having that amazing tones of green just inside your home?

Ultra Violet 18-2828.  Some say this colour is a referense to Prince and the Purple Rain music.  I liked that idea.  The thing is that this is a beautiful colour that can be used in many different ways, as you can see now.

Brown Emperador 18-1028.  Yes I know that seems a little bit boring, but think again.  It is a chocolate brown very classy colour that can bring a lot of style for you interior if combined with the oranges and reds that I mentioned above, or make it really misterious and sophisticated mixed with black and different greys.

Almost Mauve 12-2103 is the more neutral and light colour of this pallete.  Can easily be combined with the other ones, or in delicate matches with beiges and roses.. we will see it a lot in clothes, tiles, paints, textiles.

Some might say, there are so many colours, which on is really the 2018 pick?   This depends on your personality, the way you want your house to be, the combination from other things you already have…  What I can say is that Pantone colours are not supposed to be dictactory, but guidance for the most of the fabricants which means, you’ll see them around more than usual in many different features.

Hope you enjoyed!!   Please leave your comments below and tell me which colour is your pick to make your interior decor.    See you soon!
